Hi I’m Paul Jerome,
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve been telling yourself that your struggles aren’t “serious enough,” or that asking for help means something is wrong with you. For many people, especially those navigating cultural expectations where mental health is stigmatized, reaching out can feel unfamiliar or even shameful.
It makes sense to feel hesitant. Difficult experiences have a way of staying with us long after they’ve passed, shaping our relationships with others and with ourselves. They can show up as anxiety, disconnection, or a persistent sense that something’s off. If you’ve felt stuck despite “knowing” what you should do differently, that may be because it’s held somewhere deeper.
Our past is present in who we are today. Using EMDR and IFS (Internal Family Systems) as my primary approaches, let’s work together to unweave the patterns that form who you are today. Let’s understand the deepest parts of you that are yearning to be relieved of carrying painful burdens that no longer serve you. I also draw on CBT, DBT, EFT, and person-centered approaches, depending on what you need.
I offer a warm, culturally sensitive space, especially for those who’ve been taught that struggles should be handled quietly and alone. That’s a big part of why I do this work.
